Election 2016: It Could’ve Been All About California

Here’s one of the best arguments for keeping the Electoral College, ESPECIALLY in 2016, and it’s one liberal Democrats will have a hard time swallowing because it’s logical.

Hillary Clinton’s popular-vote plurality over Trump depends on the votes in a single state: California, which single-handedly turns a Trump plurality into a Clinton plurality.

California
Hillary Clinton, 8,753,788
Donald J. Trump, 4,483,810

National
Hillary Clinton, 65,844,594
Donald J. Trump, 62,979,616

Minus California
Hillary Clinton, 54,090,806
Donald J. Trump, 58,495,806

Donald J. Trump won the national popular vote cast outside of the single state of California. Moreover, Clinton won all of California’s 55 electoral votes despite the fact that 4.3 million of the state’s voters voted for Trump. That big winner-take-all advantage for California’s Democrats and Clinton was certainly felt, but it wasn’t enough to override her losses in many other states.

Under our electoral-vote system, American voters elected a national president, not California’s choice.
Hillary Clinton supporters need to quit whining about the Electoral College

Many of us have had harsh things to say about the State of California over the years. Their values seep into our education, academic, and entertainment environments, not to mention the illegal aliens that have also infected it beyond cleansing.

Thank God for the Founders who may have seen a California bully coming and spared the other 49 states of all she represents.
