#RogerThat: Patriots Win, 1 Million-plus Gloat in Boston

Over the years, New England Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick has always stressed to his players the concept of “situational football”. One could argue, falling behind 28-3 with 8:31 to go in the third quarter of the Super Bowl was quite the situation.

While many of us were absorbing the list of stats repeated by Fox’ Joe Buck on just how improbable a comeback was as such had NEVER be done in Super Bowl history, Belichick seemed calm and we all know the impossible that transpired after that.

Two years ago, we won our fourth Super Bowl down in Arizona and I told our fans that was the sweetest one of all. But a lot has transpired over the last two years and I don’t think that needs any explanation. But I want to say to our fans, to our brilliant coaching staff, our amazing players who were so spectacular: this is unequivocally the sweetest.

Watching that historic Super Bowl comeback was not only something New England Patriots’ fans enjoyed, but it must have been quite the revelation for the millions of football fans whose mediocre franchises are mathematically-eliminated from the post season by Week 7 of the regular season, not to mention those who insist to-this-day, the very act of the Patriots suiting up for a game was a result of “cheating”.

On a wintry-mix Tuesday morning in Boston, more than a million Patriots fans came out to not only salute and celebrate the Super Bowl 51 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons (who’ve become an afterthought), but a collective “fuck you” to the over-zealous NFL commissioner, jealous NFL fans whose own teams have yet to figure out that illusive “team” concept, partisan sports writers who decided to hate Tom Brady because he had a Donald Trump hat visible in his locker in 2015, and to show they never wavered in support of their quarterback who was savaged because he dares destroy old smartphones instead of trusting (yeah, right) the integrity of the NFL.

It was payback, gloat, middle finger, all in one and we see no reason to doubt doing this again next year and the year after that.

Not a Pats fan by any means, but the best part of them winning was all the whining about how the come from behind victory was just like this past election night.

Amazing how the Russians hacked the Superbowl!!
