Video of Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz surfaced showing her issuing a not-so-veiled threat to Capitol Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz threatened the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police with “consequences” for holding equipment that she says belongs to her in order to build a criminal case against a Pakistani staffer suspected of massive cybersecurity breaches involving funneling sensitive congressional data offsite.

The House Appropriations Legislative Branch Subcommittee held a hearing to review the budget for the U.S. Capitol Police last May and a visually concerned Wasserman Schultz clearly wanted the chief to acknowledge that any property of a “member” lost should be promptly returned even though he clearly knew the equipment she was referring to was part of an ongoing investigation.
Anyone who’s followed partisan politics knows that whenever there’s any smoke on a Democrat fire, the usual labels and responses are issued and the party prevent defense has been activated.
To hear some commentators tell it, with the help of his family and a cushy job on Capitol Hill, Mr. Awan, a Pakistani-American, had managed to steal computer hardware, congressional data and even — just maybe — a trove of internal Democratic National Committee emails that eventually surfaced last summer on WikiLeaks.

Let’s not forget Wasserman Schultz apparently planned on paying the Awans after they got back to Pakistan. Kinda’ sounds like keep quiet money; the kind of money the Awans have become accustomed to.
Awan began working for Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida in 2005, and his wife, his brother’s wife, and two of his brothers all appeared on the payrolls of various House Democrats soon after, payroll records show. They have collected $4 million since 2010.
For years, it was widely known that Awan, and eventually his 20-year-old brother Jamal, did the bulk of the work for various offices, while no-show employees were listed on members’ staffs in order to collect additional $165,000 salaries, workers said. This circumvented a rule that prevents any one staffer from making more than members of Congress.

Don’t start looking at the pieces as they pile up and it’s purely coincidental that many of the Democrats the Awans worked for are on the House Committee on Homeland Security, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence….
Awan made nearly $2 million since starting as an IT support staffer for House Democrats in 2004, according to public salary data. Alvi, who worked for House Democrats beginning in 2007, earned more than $1.3 million as an IT staffer during that time.
Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) said he was hesitant to believe the accusations against Alvi, Imran Awan and the three other staffers, saying their background as Muslim Americans, some with ties to Pakistan, could make them easy targets for false charges.

No, it’s now all about… Islamophobia?
An affidavit filed with the criminal complaint states there is probable cause to believe that Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, engaged in a scheme to defraud Congressional Federal Credit Union based on misrepresentations made to obtain a loan. FBI Special Agent Brandon Merriman said in the affidavit that the misrepresentations revolved around written assurances that the home serving as collateral for the loan was a “principal residence.”
The agent also attested that bank records show $283,000 was wired to two individuals in Pakistan.
Gowen says the federal bank fraud count stems from a “modest real estate matter” and is motivated by anti-Muslim bigotry. He noted that Awan is an American citizen and said “this outrageous political prosecution” was forcing his children to live in squalor in Pakistan.

How many of us would love to be living in $283,000 of “squalor”?
While the media’s been screaming all things Trump, Russia, and collusion in unison, the real story of international hijinks involving the 2016 election is coming out and our elected royalty are spooked.
So spooked that lowly Mr. Awan is being represented by not your average, run-of-the-mill attorney.
Mr. Gowen left the Public Defender’s office to work for former President William Jefferson Clinton and then-Senator Hillary Clinton. Chris was a fact checker for President Clinton’s memoir, My Life. He also served as a traveling aid for President Clinton’s national and international trips. Chris finished his tenure with the Clintons by directing the advance operations for then-Senator Hillary Clinton during her 2008 presidential campaign.

Someone seems very concerned about Mr. Awan, indeed.
During campaign season, they want us to believe they’re all warm, fuzzy and caring of those who they represent. Once they get to Capitol Hill, they flaunt the perks they have and hide the new ones they create, and look down with contempt on anyone who comes before them, that is until they get busted. Then we get the focus-grouped mea culpas, pleas for forgiveness and, in some cases, tears.
Given her past, there should be few tears shed for Debbie Wasserman Schultz and anyone she manages to drag off the cliff with her.
