We’ve all seen the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez media love affair. She’s everything the entertainment industry loves as a template: she’s young, a minority, and an underdog that won.

The news media is overlooking her obvious lack of basic civic knowledge regarding the branches of government and how things work on Capitol Hill because with her every social media post, video upload, office protest, defiance of authority, she remains good content.

In her arrogance of youth, she’s not making the best first impression amongst her new peers.

Ocasio-Cortez storms Washington, winning headlines but rankling some colleagues

In the grand scheme of things, she’s insignificant and thus disposable. Like most her age, she’s also ignorant of one of the media’s themes over many, many years:

“We build them up only to tear them down.”

We remember many who’ve been icons with documentable achievements that have left an indelible mark on American society. For example, Michael Jackson created productions that were events people eagerly waited years in between projects for. The hype was immense and the final product worth the wait. People like Jackson were considered entertainment deity and the media promoted the greatness of their works… until there was an opening and thus an opportunity to wall-to-wall exploit a looming demise.

Contrast that to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who aside from defeating an incumbent who believed he just needed to show up and win, she really hasn’t accomplished anything of value in her short life. Yes, she won an election; like this is a feat that changed the world. She’s basically a parody of Valley Girl-turned-United States congresswoman and there’s a very good chance a similar treatment is gathering dust on a producer’s shelf somewhere in Hollywood.

She’s just one House member out of 435 who will be also seeking their share of political and media relevance.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Will Push Washington. Will Washington Push Back?

While she’s currently being publicly defiant to the President of the United States and even the Democrat leadership, reality will hit her square in the face. If not by a President Trump who won’t even acknowledge her insignificance, but a wannabe Speaker Pelosi who’s systematically making all those rookies who ran on unseating her, shut their mouths and get with the program that’s been in place before Ocasio-Cortez was born.

Ocasio-Cortez will be squashed by her own party leadership as she probably got that behind-the-scenes talking-to that gets minds right real quick.

Ocasio-Cortez backs Pelosi for speaker as long as she ‘remains the most progressive candidate’

Yeah, okay.

Those pre-midterm convictions didn’t last long and she’s not the only loudmouth freshman whose defiant rhetoric versus Pelosi support changed after a few short days on the Hill.

Problem Solvers Dems: We ‘cannot support’ Pelosi for Speaker ‘at this time’

There’s no reason for anyone on Capitol Hill to capitulate to Ocasio-Cortez’ very public and juvenile demands. Comeuppance beatdowns are storylines the media loves, even when it’s today’s “it”. While Democrats play up public entitlements, Capitol Hill doesn’t recognize them in leadership until you’ve done your time (which can take decades) towing the line.

There are rules and some of them have been around since the formal formation of the Congress. Ocasio-Cortez will try and decide which rules she will abide by and which she will demand she be an exception. The real world doesn’t work that way, Congress doesn’t work that way, and the media will be documenting the drama as it unfolds because unlike Hollywood, no one in the biz stands to lose if an irrelevant upstart is kicked to the curb. It doesn’t take much for what was once media awe and admiration to take that ugly turn to the voyeurism of personal destruction.

We shall soon see just what the media REALLY thought of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the first place, once she opens her mouth and it really counts.
