The first relates to the lack of accountability, which is endemic in America. The second relates to the political time horizon. The political horizon is determined by the time it takes to get elected, get re-elected, and become eligible for pension, which is approximately six years. Most things in society are on a much longer cycle, especially climate variations. There is an old acronym hardly used anymore but still appropriate. ANIMTOO stands for, absolutely not in my term of office.

On this Earth day it is valuable to go back and look at all the threats to our existence beyond those of climate and you find none of them are even close.
