The first red flag is the blatant partisanship which is a clear nonprofit violation.

Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes.

Certain activities or expenditures may not be prohibited depending on the facts and circumstances. For example, certain voter education activities (including presenting public forums and publishing voter education guides) conducted in a non-partisan manner do not constitute prohibited political campaign activity. In addition, other activities intended to encourage people to participate in the electoral process, such as voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives, would not be prohibited political campaign activity if conducted in a non-partisan manner.

On the other hand, voter education or registration activities with evidence of bias that (a) would favor one candidate over another; (b) oppose a candidate in some manner; or (c) have the effect of favoring a candidate or group of candidates, will constitute prohibited participation or intervention.

As they offer no public disclosure, we’re not sure if they are a 501(c)(3) or a 501(c)(4), but Voterizer may have crossed that legal line as well.

To be tax-exempt as a social welfare organization described in Internal Revenue Code (IRC) section 501(c)(4), an organization must not be organized for profit and must be operated exclusively to promote social welfare. The earnings of a section 501(c)(4) organization may not inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual.

The promotion of social welfare does not include direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. However, a section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization may engage in some political activities, so long as that is not its primary activity.

Voterizer’s been unleashed on Georgia despite being capable of registering their voters without outside assistance.

Not sure if all these requirements are being met by Voterizer because to try registering from a state other than Georgia would be a crime, but their site appeared to make it all pretty quick, easy, and devoid of having to provide physical PROOF of residency.

A quick search of nonprofit databases show no listing for Voterizer.org which may be excused because of how new they appear to be, but it also looks like they are blatantly breaking IRS rules against partisanship. It may also help to have some friendly #resistance types in the Internal Revenue Service that are willing to look the other way until after all the election missions have been accomplished.

Voterizer.org also appears to be a product of another nonprofit, FieldTeam6.org, with an exclusively partisan mission.

Nah, not an “insider”.

Not only are state and federal voter registration rules being possibly violated and across state lines, but so are specific IRS nonprofit rules and honest disclosure.

Then again, what rules do you expect Democrats to honor?

Americans who received a stimulus check from the federal government also are getting something else in the mail: a letter from President Donald Trump.

A one-page letter from Trump started arriving over the weekend in the mailboxes of millions of Americans who received stimulus payments of up to $1,200 under a new law designed to help the economy recover from the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

Time for a lifeline….

A former taxpayer advocate at the Internal Revenue Service called the letter “unbelievable” and said it makes the agency “look like it is the handmaiden of one administration and one party.”

Take a look at the letter sent from the White House, signed by the sitting President of the United States; the same president who signed the CARES Act authorizing payments sent directly to Americans, and see if you can find the “unbelievable” tone that makes the agency look like “the handmaiden of one administration and one party.”

The president obviously neglected to have the IRS slip in the word “Republican”.

Collins reached out to one person to certify what must have been some nitpick outrage. That person was Nina Olsen.

“This will harm the IRS and its ability to appear nonpolitical and nonpartisan,” said Nina Olson, executive director of the Center for Taxpayer Rights. “If I were there, I would be strongly advocating against this.”

We don’t recall ever hearing Olson publicly excoriate the Obama administration, not only after the revelations of IRS official Lois Lerner’s targeting conservative groups, her lost-and-found 30,000 missing emails or former Obama Commissioner John Koskinen’s obstruction that stunk of monumental cover-up. The response from her “watchdog” agency response (at the time) was rather subdued and in no way reflected the public outrage.

“To promote voluntary compliance with the tax laws, the IRS must be impartial both in fact and in appearance. The revelation that the IRS used ‘tea party’ and similar labels to select tax-exemption applicants for further review, even if intended solely as a workload management tool, has created the appearance that the IRS was not impartial. It is imperative the IRS move quickly to regain the public’s trust and take steps to prevent this kind of incident from happening again.”

Ouch.

Seeing how Lerner escaped any kind of real punishment (early retirement doesn’t count), it’s not clear which steps were taken to “regain the public’s trust and take steps to prevent this kind of incident from happening again.”

This whole letter thing appears to be yet another narrative created to poke President Trump and one concurring quote was found.

It remains to be seen when Mr. Collins will find and quote Americans who received a check and letter, ready to go on the record and bitch about receiving much-needed relief.

It’s even worse when local news leaves one slightly embarrassing tidbit off their coverage: that you’re a Democrat.

You have to go out-of-state to get more professional coverage.

She’s running.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has skipped town, following Thursday’s FBI and IRS raid on her home, according to a report.

No one has seen the Democrat, who is being investigated over sales of a children’s book she authored, since the raid and even her spokesman James Bentley said he has no idea where she is.

The Baltimore City Council has asked her to step down as mayor, but it’s still unclear whether she’ll resign.

The dollar figures involved are too impressive for Mayor Pugh to easily skate on this one and normally stubborn Democrats have thrown her under the bus.

It’s appreciated that as the mayor of a major metropolitan city these things have to be handled delicately, but if the feds raided our offices, our lawyer’s office and our homes, chances are they wouldn’t ask us to drop by when we got a few minutes to spare.

The fact she’s black and her last name isn’t Clinton is more of the obvious detriment.

Is this just the tip of the Pugh iceberg?

“She’s in a terrible spot,” said Arnold M. Weiner, the lawyer who defended a previous mayor, Sheila Dixon, against charges of theft, perjury and misconduct in office. “There aren’t any moves she can make at this point,” he said.

“The books might just be a shiny object,” he said. “My guess is there’s something bigger.”

Lawyers said federal agencies likely are looking for possible tax violations, such as whether she reported income from the books. And indeed, among the agents who descended on seven locations in Baltimore associated with Pugh — including her former campaign treasurer’s office, an aide’s apartment and a nonprofit job training center that she once led — were some wearing Internal Revenue Service jackets.

“When money is involved, there is potential for tax crimes,” said David Jaros, a University of Baltimore Law School professor. “And they’re easier to prove.”

“It’s easier to make a deal with state than federal prosecutors,” Weiner said. And Pugh might not have much to bargain with at this point, he said.

Yeah, the IRS was grabbing stuff. That’s never a good sign.

Following FBI and IRS raids on her two homes, City Hall and the offices of some of her allies Thursday, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh is said to be in poor health and not “lucid” enough to make a decision as to whether or not she will resign from office amid a financial scandal and controversy surrounding her self-published children’s books.

An “indefinite leave of absence” and now this.

Obviously, a Democrat doesn’t need to be “lucid” to run Baltimore.

U.S. Senator Kamala Harris of California is hardly an anomaly when it comes to Democrats using the church for political events, which ARE a violation of the IRS code on the Restriction of Political Campaign Intervention by Section 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Organizations. Unfortunately, those rules only appear to apply to Republicans.

In 2008, I ran for State Representative in Massachusetts and requested to speak on a local church property on issues that were pertinent to the district and was respectfully declined because for me to do so would put at risk their 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.

Note how Democrats have actively campaigned in churches because they knew what kind of racial hell would be brought down on any IRS official who dared threaten the 501(c)(3) status of a black place of worship.

Political office holders and candidates should be able to speak to members of a congregation. Nonprofit, tax-exemptions are another issue as despite the rules against partisan politics being a no-no, it’s something Republicans and conservatives are quite cognizant of and adhere to while Democrat and liberal groups cross that line often and with impunity. It could be we have the traditional career federal workers who sympathize with the left (see: Lois Lerner) and would never hold the left to the rules while the right has to obey the IRS code to the letter.

Time to do away with the rules against nonprofits and political speech?

Maybe this is something President Trump will get around to and be prepared for the progressive screech of all screeches when the possibility of their liberal career mills having to, heaven forbid, either stop being blatantly partisan or pay their fair share of taxes.

More than 300 “black churches” in Virginia will be shown a video featuring Vice President Kamala Harris urging members to vote for Democratic gubernatorial candidate and former governor Terry McAuliffe ahead of the Nov. 2 election in a presentation some have suggested is unconstitutional and illegal.

Pitiful, but expected from Democrats.

1. You can either cut the government a check
2. You can contact the IRS and set up a payment plan
3. You can knowingly withhold those taxes until the demand is too large to ignore, and then you can request a Geithner waiver.

Treasury Secretary-designate Timothy Geithner apologized for his $34,000 tax mistake . He said, “These were careless mistakes. They were avoidable mistakes. But they were unintentional. I should have been more careful.”

I take him at his word. That’s why he should not be confirmed as Treasury Secretary.

We should first notice that $34,000 is not a small amount. And that is the tax, not the underlying income on which tax was not paid. As Treasury Secretary he would be in charge of the IRS.

Is this an example of President Obama’s new ethics?

No, it’s the recurring example of liberal elitism, with a little change and hope tossed in.
