ObamaCare: The Reality-Check Education of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

One sad aspect of being informed on issues by the media and political partisans is how uninformed one can end up being.

More problematic is if that person becomes elected to the United States House of Representatives.

ObamaCare: The New Normal They’ll Pay For

Obamacare’s victory sets off a stiff competition for taxpayer dollars between Obamacare, Medicaid, and Medicare. It’s a battle that the elderly, in particular, are likely to lose.

It’s clear those who voted for Obama didn’t know or care much about the real math. In the end, they’ll be whining because they weren’t warned.

Yes, we did.

MoveOn Email Of The Day

Even some of the most annoying liberals understand entitlement reform is crucial to the financial stability of the nation. But that won’t stop the base’s screaming from the playbook.

In an interview just before his appointment to the new congressional “Super Committee” responsible for fixing America’s deficit, Sen. John Kerry said, “…the real problem for our country is…the structural debt of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid measured against the demographics of our nation.” He couldn’t be more wrong and he needs to know that his constituents know it. The problem isn’t Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, it’s tax breaks that help corporations and millionaires at the expense of the rest of the nation.

Can you call Senator Kerry today and give him the message: “As a member of the Super Committee, you must not cut Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. Instead, you must make sure corporations and the rich pay their fair share”?

The Senate’s not in session and even if they were, Kerry wouldn’t really be inconvenienced. Just the poor staffer who’ll have to take the calls from the uninformed irrational that Democrats are clearly blowing off.

Bonehead Of The Day

This just in from MoveOn.org…

It sounds like something Glenn Beck would cook up: a powerful cabal of right-wing ideologues hatches a secret plan to force cuts to Social Security and Medicare, and they’re on the verge of succeeding. But it’s true.

Right now, the stars are aligned for conservatives who’ve spent decades trying to cut Social Security — the heart of the New Deal.

And instead of articulating a progressive response, Democrats seem frozen, like deer in the headlights.
— Nita Chaudhary, MoveOn.org Political Action

Maybe we all missed something, but has Nita been paying attention to Social Security’s fiscal (broke) health, wasn’t MoveOn screeching at George W. Bush who wanted to reform it before it went broke, and doesn’t Obama/Pelosi/Democrat’s health care bill cut Medicare by $455 billion?

Nice try, Nita, but not all of are MoveOn lemmings.

Democrats are planning to introduce legislation later this spring that would permanently repeal annual Medicare cuts to doctors, but are warning lawmakers not to talk about it for fear that it will complicate their push to pass comprehensive health reform. The plans undercut the party’s message that reform lowers the deficit, according to a memo obtained by POLITICO.

Hmmm. I wonder who’s leaking this stuff…?
