She seized on something she thought she could exploit and gain her some foreign policy creds….

Three days after declaring martial law in the rebellious southern Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered his troops to crush the militants, and gave a speech to inspire them:

“You can arrest any person, search any house. I alone would be responsible for anything they did under martial law. I will go to jail for you. If you happen to have raped three women, I will own up to it.” Duterte told the soldiers Friday.

This last comment — absolving his soldiers for any future rapes — was widely reported as a joke, and if it was, it wouldn’t be the ruler’s first attempt at the genre.

Foreign policy is not a place for the inexperienced to practice and Chelsea Clinton probably assumed Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently in the midst of a waged war against Islamists, would understand the gravity of who it was who publicly admonished him with 12 characters and two periods.

It didn’t work out as she probably assumed it would as a nation’s president doesn’t have time to play with spoiled, entitled children.

In her ongoing quest for relevance, Chelsea inserted herself into a controversy that was really none of her business, but Twitter tends to make us all feel like equals. While Duterte’s words would be considered offensive, there are nuances, personalities, many things that need to be taken into consideration before butting into a foreign controversy that doesn’t involve you.
