Speaker Nancy Pelosi has warned American Olympic athletes not to do or say anything that may enrage their “ruthless” Communist China hosts.

While obviously, a good suggestion, protesting thus “incurring the anger” of a government she leads is punishable, albeit not to the same level of the ChiComms… yet.

In the United States, it all depends on who is doing the protesting.

Nancy Pelosi had no problem with protests against an opposition president, with even one protester talking about blowing up the White House. Nancy Pelosi and Democrats had no problem with Black Lives Matter and Antifa protesters who illegally blocked traffic on public streets and highways, verbally and physically assaulted motorists, vandalized public and private property, verbally and physically assaulted law enforcement, burned police stations, and injured and killed Americans on the street. Most of them were not detained and incarcerated, and many have had their release assisted by nonprofits and even elected politicians. Nancy Pelosi has no problem while taxpayer-funded intelligence agencies violate the law and monitor the activities of Americans without cause or warrant every day.

Conversely, Nancy Pelosi has no problem with those who were caught up in the January 6 mayhem and have been jailed since in Third World (Washington, D.C.) conditions, despite not being formally charged with a crime. Conversely, Nancy Pelosi has no problem with parents being surveilled and arrested for protesting local school boards run by liberal Democrats. Conversely, Nancy Pelosi has no problem with state prosecutors persecuting a former President of the United States, whose free speech was repeatedly violated by Big Tech platforms.

Nancy Pelosi can spare us the righteous indignation of warning against Americans exercising free speech in a nation that doesn’t recognize it.

Thanks to people like her, it’s only a little better here.

BTW — If an Olympic athlete does cross the line, there’s no President Trump who’ll personally secure their prompt release. He or she will be at the mercy of Joe Biden who doesn’t leave Americans behind, right?

As the left’s #CancelCulture ramped up in intensity, the House of Representatives had to prove themselves relevant.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday ordered the removal of four portraits in the Capitol of previous House Speakers who served in the Confederacy. The move marks Pelosi’s latest effort to take down Confederate imagery in the Capitol, following her push last week calling for the removal of 11 Confederate statues displayed in the Capitol complex.

In a letter to the House clerk, Pelosi requested the “immediate removal” of the portraits of four Speakers who served the Confederacy in various capacities: Robert Hunter of Virginia, Howell Cobb of Georgia, James Orr of South Carolina and Charles Crisp of Georgia.

It was obviously an innocent oversight that Speaker Pelosi didn’t mention that Hunter, Cobb, Orr and Crisp were all Democrats.

In an effort to infuse some consistency, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Republican from Texas, decided to issue a resolution of his own….

Of course, this will invoke the oft-repeated hysterical recitation that one bright, sunny day, the Republican and Democrat parties just up and “switched” positions.

“A great portion of the history of the Democratic Party is filled with racism and hatred. Since people are demanding we rid ourselves of the entities, symbols, and reminders of the repugnant aspects of our past, then the time has come for Democrats to acknowledge their party’s loathsome and bigoted past, and consider changing their party name to something that isn’t so blatantly and offensively tied to slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination, and the Ku Klux Klan,” Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said in a statement.

The resolution is co-sponsored by GOP Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Jody Hice (Ga.), Randy Weber (Texas) and Andy Harris (Md.). It comes after the House on Wednesday voted to remove from the Capitol statues of people who served in the Confederacy or defended slavery.

That can’t be said for the privileged members of the House of Representatives and Senate who seem to believe they’re way too important to assume the risks of COVID-19 contraction, have self-imposed their stay at home, and don’t appear to be in much of a rush to go back to work like the millions of “essential” people who are working and millions of others who’d like to go back to work.

House members, most of whom have been in their districts for all of April as Covid-19 spreads, will not have to travel to Washington before May 4 “absent an emergency,” the Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s office said. It added that lawmakers would get “sufficient notice” if they have to travel to Washington to vote on coronavirus legislation.

While Congress has been out of the Capitol, the coronavirus has taken a steeper human and economic toll. U.S. Covid-19 cases now top 560,000, and the disease has been linked to more than 22,800 deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

Some politicians are managing to deal with the shutdown inconvenience as best they can.

As 22 million-plus Americans have lost their jobs, millions of others are resorting to waiting in long lines at food banks while others have no idea when and if they’ll get their next paycheck, members of Congress, the Senate and their staffs are enjoying time at home with their paychecks uninterrupted.

Rubbing it in our faces is not cool.

 
When it comes to those like Speaker Pelosi who don’t need a taxpayer funded paycheck, a little sensitivity to the plight of her fellow citizens is in order.

We say “lazy” because IF you really watch the video of the incident in question, you’ll see that President Trump handed the manuscript of his speech to Vice President Mike Pence (who didn’t offer a handshake) and handed another copy of the manuscript to Speaker Pelosi and said “Thank you” before turning away….

Seriously, despite the pomp and circumstance associated with political events like the State of the Union where all partisanship is supposed to be sidelined for appearances, there are realities at play here and Democrats and their media tried to bury the actions that prompted a possible reaction.

Pelosi omitted the customary language about it being a “high privilege and distinct honor” to introduce the president.

Putting things in historical context, that may have been a first.

President Trump, thanks to a hostile Democrat-controlled House of Representatives, has been forever marked as “impeached”. Many congresspersons have declared this goal from the moment Trump was elected president in 2016. Speaker Pelosi not only allowed but led the impeachment going forward despite the lack of formal crimes Trump was neither charged with or found guilty in a court of law, unlike Bill Clinton prior to his impeachment.

Should President Trump have acted all palsie with Pelosi like the impeachment never happened? How would any of us act publicly towards someone who not only tried to get you fired, but banned from ever trying to get another job in your field? Some of us may have chosen two different words….

Speaker Pelosi is receiving progressive justification in tearing up President Trump’s “manifesto of mistruths” that included historic employment achievements, a long overdue military promotion, tearful reunion, lifetime achievement acknowledgement and award, victim of illegal alien crime, medical ailment survivor, and postmortem honors while she was clearly conducting “mic check” Democrats when and when not to clap, when or when not to stand like she was at Occupy Wall Street.

The optics were terrible for Democrats and they know it, the responses from Republicans, Independents AND Democrats following the SOTU reflect the near-universal outrage for Pelosi and her party’s actions. Trying to deflect on the president is a lame attempt, but after the last three years, it’s par for the course.

But as evidenced by their tactics starting with #BlackLivesMatter, disruption of the lives of the American people was a direct act of punishment. The election of President Trump inspired the Democrat-sanctioned Indivisible #resistance that sought to push back against a public official they didn’t vote for and punish the American people to this day. We see their punishment with the introduction of everything anti-Trump in our classrooms, cable news and media reporting, primetime television plotlines, late night so-called comedy shows, music and more.

Now that Democrats have some Capitol Hill power, they can start exacting their punishment against those who dared vote against them.

Democrats will take control of the U.S. House in January with big items topping their legislative to-do list: Remove obstacles to voting, close loopholes in government ethics law and reduce the influence of political money. Party leaders say the first legislative vote in the House will come on H.R. 1, a magnum opus of provisions that Democrats believe will strengthen U.S. democratic institutions and traditions.

The bill would establish automatic voter registration and reinvigorate the Voting Rights Act, crippled by a Supreme Court decision in 2013. It would take away redistricting power from state legislatures and give it to independent commissions.

Other provisions would overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, which declared political spending is First Amendment free speech; they would mandate more disclosure of outside money and establish a public financing match for small contributions.

We see how elections in the United States are now conducted.

When Democrats win by the end of Election Day, the results are a “will of the people” sanctioned and accepted done deal. When Republicans win, we must “count every vote” past Election Day until enough DEMOCRAT votes can be “found” and the Democrat wins. While the left will laugh at this, there are enough recent examples of only Democrats winning after losing to see there is funny business going on.

More insidious is the Democrat desire to enable more vehicles to make finding votes when needed by controlling the mechanisms: circumventing state control of their districting and reinterpreting what is free speech. When it comes to Hillary’s “Citizens United” hemorrhoid that’s never healed, Democrats argue that entities are not people and can’t advocate for-or-against candidates… however they’ll never touch the unions that to that very thing and more for them every election cycle, not make one video Hillary didn’t like.

Thankfully, H.R. 1 won’t make it past the Senate and if it did, would be vetoed by President Trump but it’s always nice to know what the other side’s true motivations are.

The only silver lining is salivating Democrats will overreach. They always do when they get a taste of that all-consuming power and their success today will be something they’ll be in hysterical panic-mode at undoing when it comes back to bite them.

And why so much emphasis on Hillary?

Because she’s always needed a path cleared to make things easier for her political aspirations. Creating more voters, Democrats controlling districts and dictating what can or cannot be said about her ever… now why would that be a Democrat priority with the next political cycle being the 2020 presidential election?
