On Tuesday night, Democrats flipped two Republican-held state legislative seats — one in Oklahoma, one in New Hampshire — that Donald Trump carried in the 2016 election.

That makes six turnovers from Republican to Democrat in contested state House and Senate races so far in 2017 — and 26 out of 35 races (at the state legislative and congressional level) in which the Democratic nominee has overperformed Hillary Clinton’s showing last November. (Worth noting: Republicans have yet to flip a Democratic-controlled seat so far this year.)

2018

After the 2018 midterm elections, 20 House Republican incumbents lost their seats to a Democrat. Of those, 10 were in Clinton-won districts, while 9 were incumbents who Republicans had previously said were in competitive, coin-flip races.

2019

Republicans suffered setbacks in two states in off-year elections Tuesday, despite President Donald Trump’s efforts to rally supporters to the defense of GOP candidates down the ballot as the 2020 race heats up.

A staunchly pro-Trump Republican governor in Kentucky faced what could be an upset loss in his re-election bid. And in Virginia, Democrats seized both houses of the Legislature from Republicans, gaining full control of state government for the first time in 26 years.

But that didn’t stop Ronna from basking in yet another Fox News appearance to make excuses for defeats by blaming the candidate: a deflection that will surely be employed for years to come.

If anything, Ronna Romney McDaniel is consistent. Given the activities of her “progressive Republican” Uncle Mitt over the years, her appointment to chair of the Republican National Committee can only be politics-as-usual at the least, nepotism at the worst. And while her tenure as chair has brought in highly-touted record amounts of fundraising for the party, like most nonprofits, the only people who appear to benefit are those within the GOP apparatus. Certainly not down-ballot candidates or ultimately Republican voters.

According to FEC filings in 2019 alone, it appears a whopping 71% of the monies raised in 2019 has gone to “operating expenditures”, meaning pricey office spaces, travel costs, lots of meals, overhead expenses and very generous GOP staff salaries that keep them visibly well fed.

If 2018 was any indication, it doesn’t appear that the Republican Party supports state and/or local candidates if at all.

The state and local Republican (nonprofit) parties don’t appear to be any better off as those at the top find it easier to blame their voters and not their lackluster attempt to inspire them with a solid ground game and exciting candidates.

For example, Bill Card, Chairman of the Prince William County Republican Committee in Virginia laid most of the blame for 2019 flips of Democrat-to-Republican seats on GOP voters and did so on local Washington, D.C. radio.

While Card conveniently blamed the absence of a top-of-the-ticket draw, the same could be said about the Democrats and for some strange reason, they were inspired to get their voters to the polls; a feat local Republicans failed at big time.

Between hiring inexperienced, victory-challenged millennials to charge top dollar and consistently run losing campaigns to lazy and literally fat-and-happy heads of state and local Republican parties who show little interest in providing near zero evidence that Republicans are even on the ballot, it’s no wonder why disciplined Democrats are winning seats previously held by Republicans for decades.

For example, outside voting precinct #401 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Democrats were present and readily handing out sample ballots. There were no Republicans in sight and in general there seems to have been an overall lack of urgency, especially given the highly-publicized monetary interference of George Soros. That was NOT the fault of the voters but of those who readily take in party donations and again have little to show in return.

While those running the national, state and local Republican parties will continue to absolve themselves of results that would have gotten them run off The Apprentice long ago, Republicans in many locales will be forced to endure higher taxation, sanctuary states, counties and/or cities, infanticide on demand, anti-police #BlackLivesMatter and #Antifa promotion, assaults on the 2nd Amendment, LGBTQIAP+ anything and everything in schools, climate change mandates, Muslim special treatment, voting rights for super majority Democrat felons, gerrymandering run amok, pro-illegal alien programs and oversized welcome mats for “refugees”, complete with every housing, food and cash demand that can be doled out at taxpayer expense.

Yes, this is what happens when Republicans don’t vote.

It’s also what happens when the RNC party leadership provides little-to-no support for candidates, that is if we don’t provide Democrats the gift of more uncontested seats.

Only someone who considers donors and voters stupid could make such a blatantly dishonest statement on national television with a smile.

Ronna Romney McDaniel is a self-serving, empty plus-size and the continued examples of her failed “leadership” has tricked down to the local level and the Republican Party is being made quite irrelevant.

It’s almost like this could be part of some divine plan to plow a path for a possible savior.

Uncle Mitt maybe…?

No, leave it to relevance-starved Mitt Romney to be one of the first to put his foot snuggly into mouth.

In an interview, the Utah Republican senator brushed off the prospect of Trump following through and officially nominating Cain: “I doubt that will be a nomination. But if it were a nomination, you can bet [what] the interest rates he would be pushing for. If Herman Cain were on the Fed, you’d know the interest rate would soon be 9-9-9,” Romney said in an interview on Thursday afternoon.

Later Thursday, Trump announced that he had “recommended” Cain for the position, saying that Cain was undergoing a background check and “would be in great shape. I find Herman to be an outstanding person, a truly outstanding individual,” the president said. “I would think he would do very well there.”

Herman Cain is qualified to be on the Federal Reserve Board. He’s been on one before.

In 1994, as head of the National Restaurant Association, he had the opportunity to speak with President Clinton during a nationally televised town hall meeting. Here, Herman challenged the President regarding the impact on businesses if his health care overhaul proposal were passed. President Clinton attempted to assure him and the millions of viewers watching at home that his legislation would not harm American business owners and their employees.

Herman was skeptical. “Quite honestly Mr. President, your calculations are incorrect,” he said. “In the competitive marketplace, it simply doesn’t work that way.” His words echoed across America, and Newsweek named Herman Cain the primary saboteur of Hillarycare.

Through these and other appearances on behalf of the National Restaurant Association, Herman began working with business leaders across all sectors of the American economy. This led to his acceptance of a position on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and he was subsequently elected their chairman. In this role, he analyzed economic conditions in the region and notified the Federal Reserve of how their policies should respond.

Obviously, Mitt Romney doesn’t associate with many black Republicans so knowing anything about one would be a stretch. But this is yet another lesson in being very careful about criticizing someone just because you can; not because you’re informed enough about that person to do so.

Then again, Romney STILL has his sights on what he’s always considered his birthright: the presidency. So we’ll be graced by his presence and pained “wit” (thanks to Utah) for the foreseeable future.

This Is the Woman Who Could Help Republicans Win in November

Ronna Romney McDaniel loves the phrase “You don’t get what you don’t ask for.”

McDaniel, 45, is supremely confident about asking for what she wants: Since January 2017, when she became the chair of the Republican National Committee, she has helped the party haul in well over $210 million, more than any previous RNC chair during a midterm election cycle. The Michigan-based mom of two has traveled more than 150,000 miles, visiting over half the states. But there’s no time to rest: Republicans are fighting to keep their hold on Congress in a November vote that is widely seen as a referendum on President Donald Trump.

If you can raise large amounts of money, cool. You need to be able to show results and if the game is politics during a political season, you need to assure donors and voters that you’re competitive. Appearances on cable news is one thing and it’s sad how that alone can be enough to give one credibility.

It also means you need to have players on the field, something Ronna Romney McDaniel’s Republican Party has monumentally failed at doing, especially in a campaign season predicted to be razor-thin close.

The standard excuse issued is that some races are “unwinnable”; an excuse clearly debunked by that well-known term “upset victory”. However, upset victories are only possible if an effort is made and maintained.

Just ask PRESIDENT Trump.

When the final numbers are tallied on election night, we’re hoping the Republican Party keeps both the House and Senate so President Trump’s agenda can continue to move full steam ahead.

However should the Republicans lose the House and the margin is within 39 seats, we hope Ronna Romney McDaniel has more than excuses why the party couldn’t find and support a candidate to at least try and make those races competitive. We hope she has an even better reason on why she should keep HER job, which could be argued was more about the protecting the self-serving while making a half-assed attempt at recruiting those who wish to serve the American people.

In very few instances is a no-show acceptable, especially when it’s your well-paid job to not only raise money to keep your employees compensated and your expensive overhead covered, but to also support candidates who’re sticking their necks out.

That is, unless, you dropped the ball and there are no candidates to support.

11/7/18 UPDATE:

As it turns out, Republicans lost the House by 26 seats.

There are many teams prior to the start of the 2018 National Football League season that we all know don’t have a shot in hell in winning the Super Bowl, yet they try and find the best possible players to put on the field in an attempt to compete, and some even win. At the start of the last National Hockey League season, no one believed an expansion team would make it to the Stanley Cup final. Yes, they didn’t win but had they adopted the wisdom of the Republican Party, Las Vegas wouldn’t have even put that team on the ice.

Would those 39 uncontested seats have produced victories? That all depends on how invested Ronna and the national party would have been to that district, but it also shows the lack of interest a “sacrificial lamb” had in sticking his or her neck out knowing they’d receive zero meaningful help from the GOP. One would think Republicans living in those districts would have appreciated the courtesy of having a candidate, other than a Democrat, to vote for.

But her Uncle Mitt found his way back to Capitol Hill, one step closer to what he’s always believed is his birthright, whether the people of Utah or the United States want him or not and Ronna’s presence can only be there for a reason, given her years of experience and political acumen.

Romney McDaniel began her political career in 2012 working on the presidential campaign of her uncle, Michigan native and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. She was elected one of Michigan’s two representatives on the Republican National Committee in 2014 and was elected  chairman of the Michigan Republican Party in 2015.

Turning Michigan red in 2014 wasn’t that monumental an accomplishment given the backlash that had been brewing against Barack Obama and Democrats for years. But her name was enough, losing with Mitt in 2012 wasn’t enough and now Ronna Romney McDaniel takes the 2018 midterm House loss with a smile.

Tell that to the driven Republican candidates who lost and voters who had no GOP option.

Let’s do some easy math.

In 2018, there were 435 congressional district races and 35 senate races. According to OpenSecrets, the GOP raised $283.6 million and spent $274.7 million. That could’ve come out to roughly $584,415.00 per race, not including what the candidates individually raised. Even if that expenditure per campaign were lowered to $450k per race so assistance could be shared with statewide candidates, there was more than enough cash to help candidates that needed support while keeping the GOP staff fat and comfortable with the remaining $34.2 million “cash on hand”.

Like most on the D.C. political level, failing to do what you were hired to do is not a fireable offense like in almost every other business entity. We’re probably stuck with McDaniel for the foreseeable future and we’ll also soon see where her true alliances lie and why she was installed as Chairman of the Republican Party in the first place.

Impeachment isn’t enough.

Impeachment would remedy Trump”s “high crimes and misdemeanors.” But impeachment would not remedy Trump’s unconstitutional presidency because it would leave in place his vice president, White House staff and Cabinet, as well as all the executive orders he issued and all the legislation he signed, and the official record of his presidency.

The only response to an unconstitutional presidency is to annul it. Annulment would repeal all of it – recognizing that such appointments, orders, rules, and records were made without constitutional authority.

The problem with such irrational thinking is it comes back to bite you.

The most recent example came thanks to former Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, first in 2005.

If all goes as planned, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) will rise after several days of debate beginning today over one of President Bush’s judicial nominees and call for an end to Democrats’ delaying tactics. The presiding officer will then rule in his favor.

Democrats will protest the ruling and ask for a vote to overturn it. The Republican leader will seek to table that appeal. If Frist and the GOP majority prevail, a long tradition of filibustering will be narrowed and a new precedent will be set allowing the Republicans to force a vote on a nomination with a simple majority instead of three-fifths of the Senate.

But Democrats contend that the Republicans are essentially breaking the rules to change the rules. “If there were ever an example of an abuse of power, this is it,” said Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-NV). “The filibuster is the last check we have against the abuse of power in Washington.”

But Harry Reid’s position began to unravel when Democrats assumed the majority….

In 2008, Reid continued to condemn the fact that the Republicans even contemplated using the nuclear option: “The Senate was set up to be different, that was the genius, the vision of our Founding Fathers. That’s why you have the ability to filibuster, and to terminate filibuster. They wanted to get rid of all of that,” Reid said.

Then he was asked if he would ever consider invoking the nuclear option himself: “As long as I am the leader, the answer’s no,” Reid promised. “I think we should just forget that. That is a black chapter in the history of the Senate. I hope we never ever get to that again because I really do believe it will ruin our country.”

Fast-forward to 2013. Now, Democrats held the White House and a Senate majority. The Republican minority had been stalling nominations and appointments by Obama, including filibustering the nomination of former Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel for secretary of defense. Senate Democrats decided to go nuclear after the Senate GOP made clear that they had no intention of allowing three vacancies on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to be filled.

But the most fun example came courtesy of the super-majority Democrats in the Massachusetts Legislature.

In 2004, the state’s junior senator, John Kerry, was the Democratic presidential nominee. Party leaders knew that if Kerry won in November, state law allowed the governor — then Republican Mitt Romney — to appoint Kerry’s successor, and that person would presumably be a Republican. So, the Democratic leadership of the legislature drew up a measure to strip the governor of his senatorial appointment power.

The measure passed both chambers and was vetoed by Romney. The Democrats then muscled a two-thirds majority to override the veto. Of course, Kerry never won the presidency, but the law remained on the books.

Fast-forward to 2009. Democrats realized that the law they had enacted in 2004 forced the state to have only one senator for roughly five months — and after Kennedy’s death, that meant the state would be short one senator. From a political standpoint, that meant the U.S. Senate would have one less Democrat at a time when a Democratic president was trying to reach a 60-vote threshold to enact landmark legislation on Kennedy’s signature issue, health care. And this time, the governor, Deval Patrick, is a Democrat and presumably would appoint someone from his party.

So legislators quickly passed legislation that would keep the special election but still allow the governor to appoint an interim senator to serve until the special election. The measure passed both chambers, and on Sept. 24, 2009, Patrick named former Democratic National Committee chairman Paul Kirk, a Kennedy family friend, as the interim senator.

So, if Robert Reich and Democrats really want to strip Donald Trump of his presidency and annul all of his accomplishments, fine.

But politics continues to remain a rather consistently cyclical thing and one day, there will be a Democrat in the White House; a Democrat who may do really bad things. If Democrats do manage to have President Trump’s presidency stripped, precedent will be set and there will be calls to do the very same thing to that Democrat, deserved or not.

Who’ll be screaming like a stuck pig then, Robert?

According to the Constitution, a congressman and/or senator can say ANYTHING they want about ANYONE on the floor and can’t be held in any way liable in any body outside of that building.

The Senators and Representatives shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

While some academics consider this clause “practically obsolete”, it clearly gives cover for today’s dishonest partisan.

As congressmen and senators were originally paid $6 per day, protecting a politician’s personal business and/or assets was a necessity. In the age of professional politicians who now make around $725 per day (aside from their ballooned portfolios that vastly outperform their salaries), knowing their personal freedom and finances are shielded from the ramifications of slander or libel has brought out the worse in our elected.

Harry Reid put his foot in his mouth before regarding Rush Limbaugh and the gleefully repeated “phony soldiers” lie prompted by Media Matters. Reid was proven dishonest, didn’t have to apologize and never has because he knows there is no redress in any venue.

If a Member’s actions meet the “legislative process” test, his immunity is absolute; and that is so even if he has acted contrary to law.

In Eastland v. United States Servicemen’s Fund (1975), the Supreme Court acknowledged that the clause may shield Members from civil or criminal liability “even though their conduct, if performed in other than legislative contexts, would in itself be unconstitutional or otherwise contrary to criminal or civil statutes.”

We’ll see how many more times federal politicians can slander private citizens, candidates or not, because this won’t be the last time.

No explanation, no apologies for their word not being worth a damn; just the assurance that in four years, they’ll be back again sharing their political brilliance and hoping just ONE person will say they’ll be missed if they issue another empty threat that will deny us of their all-important presence.

Below is the 2016 edition of the privileged waiting for someone, ANYONE, to publicly beg them not to flee the country if their candidate didn’t win the presidential election.

 

 
We wondered about a class action lawsuit only because it could be argued the thought of some of these “entertainers” fleeing was juicy incentive for many hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Americans to get out and vote for Donald Trump. It could’ve been considered fraud, at the least, as they reneged (again).

So when’s the flight? Celebrities who pledged to leave the U.S. if the Donald won including Lena Dunham, Amy Schumer and Miley Cyrus stay silent as Trump supporters mock on Twitter

Many of these narcissistic celebrities assumed the places they announced (Italy, other planets, “hell”) they’d move to actually wanted them and all the baggage self-important divas brought. Of course, when the election was over and they didn’t get the result they wanted, they reverted back to their traditional response: they were “joking” or some have just gone into hiding hoping we’ll not hold them to their word, again .

Sure, whatever.

Some celebs have lashed out at a general public that didn’t drop everything and do as they were instructed: vote for Hillary.

Most of the Hollywood elite don’t have a single nice thing to say about any Republican or their voters… except when THEY want us to pay to see their movies television show, download their “music”, buy a product they’re pimping, or bow to a candidate their wisdom dictates we must support.

Then they “act” all nice.

When they don’t get what they demanded, it will be back to Republican/Trump-bashing at the first opportunity.

A couple of those publicly (and proudly) decided to pass on performing for the incoming President of the United States.

We’re not advocating a boycott of anything these “celebrities” participate in or produce, but here’s one thing to think about: these people WILL take any opportunity to use a vehicle to bash Republican and/or conservative ideals during one of their performances or productions and more times than not, that message will be aimed at your politically-naive, easily-awed kids.

Just something to consider.

These same anti-Trump delegates were perfectly happy with popular votes when it came to them getting elected, and should they succeed in stealing the bound delegates from Trump in Cleveland, these so-called (ex)”principled conservatives” will demand voters “unite” behind the candidate they select and then threaten to blame Trump supporters if Hillary becomes the next president because they sat out the election (as hypocritical pro-Cruz “conservatives” threatened).

If any such delegate notifies the secretary of his or her intent to cast a vote of conscience, whether personal or religious, each such delegate shall be unbound and unconstrained by these rules on any given vote, including the first ballot for the selection of the president of the United States, without the risk of challenge, sanction or retribution by the Republican National Committee.

Of course, we’re talking about the division within the Republican Party because of the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump. The one talking point repeated by most is that he “can’t be bought”. There’s more to that.

Campaign Leeches

You’d have to live close to The Beltway to understand how the Donald Trump campaign has upset the standard operating procedure of Washington, D.C. and the consultant, political operative class. The easiest way to describe the filth that exists here is with an analogy.

Let’s say we’re talking about the NFL Playoffs and on a given weekend, eight teams played and four were defeated; their season ended. What would we be saying about the dedication and loyalty to the fans if players on the losing teams started sending their resumes to the teams that were beating them before the game was even over? That NEVER happens in sports but it DOES in politics because these staffers have no loyalty to a candidate or his or her supporters; ONLY to themselves and how much donor cash they can suck into their own bank accounts.

That’s why we saw Reagan-Bush people working on the McCain campaign, Reagan-Bush-McCain people working on the Romney campaign, and now Reagan-Bush-McCain-Romney people working on today’s campaigns, not to mention all of the other primary loser’s people.

That is, except on the Trump campaign.

Donald Trump has dared use his own money and selected a team from people he obviously knows and trust; not from the large pool of proven, experienced win-or-losers who care more about the paycheck than the the American people, and THAT is one reason why the establishment hates Trump. He hasn’t opened his checkbook to them as he was supposed to.

And that brings us to…

Conservative Media ‘Leaders’

We have all these so-called “conservative” leaders who no one elected, have never run for a political office (thus really sticking their necks out), defining conservatism as they so deem, and anyone who dares not follow their lead will incur their wrath, for all that’s really worth.

So, who the hell are THEY?

Has any one of you ever voted for Dana Loesch to be a “leader”? How about Erick Erickson or Brent Bozell or Katie Pavlich or Jenny Beth Martin or Rich Lowry, as well as any of the others who work at glorified, top-heavy nonprofit blogs dependent on big money donors or the charitable donations of retirees?

NOTE: We don’t mean to dash any inflated egos but there are tens of millions of good Republicans out there who’ve never heard of RedState, the Media Research Center, Townhall, the Heritage Foundation, National Review, and/or the myriad of self-important blogs that believe they are oh-so influential with Republican politicians.

Do Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Michael Medved, or Hugh Hewitt remember what happened to the Oprah Winfrey empire once she publicly chose sides with the black guy and rubbed it in the face of her audience members that supported the white woman? To say her empire tanked without recovery would be an understatement, and the arrogance of these so-called conservatives to believe the audience they presently insult will beg to come back home once the general election dust clears is .

I believe Rush Limbaugh remembers, which is why he’s observing the competition and not favoring one opponent over another.

They Believe They’re Immune From Backlash

Self-anointed conservative leaders sure believe they’re your representatives and have come right out and said that anyone who supports Donald Trump is an ignoramus, has mental issues, or worse. Mark Levin arrogantly continues to rant for Ted Cruz, redefining conservatism and rewriting the creds of Ronald Reagan, hoping his listeners won’t know they’re being played.

Some of these blogs and/or nonprofits hit up Donald Trump for money, were turned down, and are having a collective “tude” whenever possible on Fox News, because knowing some of them as I do (as well as their “conservative” convictions), had they received that big check from The Donald, their tune would be 180 degrees opposite.

The unelected “conservative” leaders are as intolerant as black Democrats who banish family members who (oh, Lawd) rebel and vote Republican and feel justified in using the taboo racial slurs against them. A vote for someone who hasn’t paid his dues and spread donor money to the party leech apparatus is misguided, and anyone who votes Trump is thought to be unworthy of intellectual consideration and is insulted on-air with the arrogance conservatives have attacked liberals about for years.

The presidential campaign of Donald Trump has turned the sunlight on the process. Not only are we witnessing the attempt by the Republican Party (and their has-beens) to nullify the will of the people, we are seeing the political whore class exposed for the disloyal, money grubbers they are.

Donald Trump is NOT with the refined, scripted, phony consultant-class program, is still winning, and that just pisses them off, while millions of others are delighted that “change” isn’t something exclusive to the left.

As a public service, Donald Trump didn’t give the leeches his money. Taken as a declaration of war by the campaign staff class, the Republican donor class has poured millions of dollars into these bruised-egos and their value (or lack their of) is being revealed to the world.

So, let the RNC and the others try and meddle with the will of the people. You KNOW, Mr. Trump has an app ready for that and he’ll make sure it hurts.

Since forgoing a third presidential bid in January, Romney has insisted he has no interest in being a kingmaker in the 2016 race. But as the contenders jockey for his favor — and, in some cases, chase his lead on thorny issues — it’s beginning to look like the 2016 Romney primary is well underway.

It is an ironic twist for a man once criticized as the very definition of the vanilla candidate, calibrated and cautious at every turn when he was the Republican presidential nominee in 2012.

As we all know, Mitt Romney had Barack Obama down and battered and just needed to deliver a third-round knockout punch. But in what we know as that proud Republican tradition of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, Mitt let Obama get back up and the rest is history.

Of course, the 2016 Republican primary field is littered with high-priced ex-Romney advisers polluting the heads of candidates and authoritatively speaking for us to a hostile media, as if they KNOW the path to victory, conveniently avoiding the fact their guy tried twice, couldn’t seal the deal and their expertise was for shit.

Now, the Romney brain trust act like he’s a voice of value to the Republican Party.

“Given the chaos that’s going on on the Republican side of things, he has some ability to bring some order to the chaos and help remind people what big issues actually do matter — and to be a little bit of a rudder for these candidates, who he recognizes can sometimes get seared by the winds of the primary process,” said GOP strategist Katie Packer, who was Romney’s deputy campaign manager in 2012

Chaos? Rudder? Remind people? This is from a hack who twice-advised the two-time loser.

Mitt Romney is clearly an example of an egotist who has that need to fulfill what he believes is his (and I’ll again use the word again) birthright, and even though HE couldn’t get there, he still considers himself important.

Romney was one of the first prominent Republicans to bluntly call for taking down the Confederate flag in front of the South Carolina state capitol after the racially motivated massacre of nine people at a Charleston church last month.

The Confederate flag became an issue because a young crazy killed black people in a church and previously was pictured on Facebook with the flag. Had Dylann Roof also had pics next to a box of Corn Flakes, would the left be calling for a liquidation of the Kellogg’s company?

Romney just had to take the bait and added his opinion which perpetuated a liberal narrative while keeping himself feeling relevant. And he just couldn’t stop there….

Over the weekend, he denounced Donald Trump’s suggestion that immigrants coming across the border from Mexico were rapists and criminals, saying the remarks were harmful to the image of the Republican Party.

“I think he made a severe error in saying what he did about Mexican-Americans and I feel it was unfortunate,” Romney said.

Besides the fact he again perpetuated a false liberal media narrative, Romney should know about campaign errors because we haven’t seen that many since the ’63 Mets.

The emergence of Donald Trump and subsequent reception by the base of his message shows many Republicans want a real change in direction, and certainly don’t want or need the advice of someone who clearly didn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag. Romney had his chances, blew them, and needs to head off to Lake Winnipesaukee and leave the 2016 primaries to those who are active participants.

We won’t even get into the internals of Massachusetts politics where it was all about Mitt, no matter how he adversely affected Republicans within the commonwealth, and how his “moderate” reach across the Beacon Hill aisle eventually gave us first-in-the-nation legalized gay marriage and the prototype for ObamaCare.

We don’t know how the primary process is going to play out but we really don’t need to have the wisdom of Mitt Romney bollixing up the works. We all saw how well that worked out in 2012.

OMG, we called Stacey Dash a “bubblehead”.

One question we asked during the thread: “And who’s defining the “conservative woman”? “Conservative” men?”

Let’s look at the conservative embrace of Dash.

Prior to the 2012 election, she sent out a Tweet expressing her support of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Now, Bob was blacklisted in Hollywood because he naively and publicly told friends of changing his party registration from Democrat-to-Republican, so we fully understand the blow-back from the intolerant left and the ramifications. But prior to the very public attacks, how many people even knew what a Stacey Dash was?

Let’s be real, Dash was embraced for one reason: she is black, voted Republican, and that was used to deflect the whole Republicans-are-racist recitation. “Used” is the operative and uncomfortable word.

But who defines what it is to be a “conservative woman”? Prior to 2008, conservative women were presented as professional and intelligent, thus worthy of respect.

Then came Sarah Palin and what did the liberal media occupy their minds with in order to discredit her?

Her legs.

Ever since, conservative men have exploited women, not on what they bring to the table, but what was under it and many women were willing to comply.

Post-2008, we got Megyn Kelly and the “glass desk”. Of course, conservatives would NEVER celebrate and/or exploit women because of their assets, right? Certainly, so-called conservative men would never even go so far as to create a music video about how pretty they are, right?

And just so you know we’re not being hypocritical, Bob took jabs at the “leg cam” concept over five years ago when it was clear what Fox News was doing for ratings….

We understand why conservative men now come a-runnin’ to the defense of any conservative woman under attack from the left, or right.

Of course, since women know what they ol’ boys club is looking (at) for, it’s no wonder that we now see “Christian”, “conservative” women presenting themselves on social media with a gun and a little more skin. Sorry, that’s hardly in harmony with the whole “family values” dynamic.

Back to last night’s Facebook debate: we asked if these same conservatives would be running to the defense of Stacey Dash if she looked like Candy Crowley? Another criticism received was that we were judging Stacey Dash. It wasn’t judging but merely asking what she’s contributed to the movement. If daring to ask such a question is judgmental then stop vetting our candidates as we clearly lack any of those previously-advertised standards and morals.

Yes, we question conservatives who have thrust Stacey Dash to spokesperson status. If you, like one of last night’s participants, want to call Bob a small and petty man who is jealous of her prominence and has nowhere near the reach she has, we’re okay with that. We asked what she’s done for the movement and our overall level of involvement was called into question. Again, we’re okay with that.

But let’s say in a previous life we had questionable activities available online. We understand your past can come back to haunt. Just ask Vanessa Williams how that works. But it’s what you do after your embrace of conservatism that defines whether you’re just milking the movement for the rewards or are the “Real” deal. One could argue that Stacey Dash is a ticking time bomb every time she’s presented as a “conservative” because what she says and does will be revisited by the left when the time is right.

If they’re being consistent, we eagerly await the embrace of Howard Stern to the conservative movement. He was one of many to publicly expose the ignorance of the Obama voter and has also said, “I will never vote Democrat again, they are Communists.” Surely that alone is enough to make him a “conservative darling”; it’s not all about T&A, right?

We’re convinced Dash’s initial, public support of Mitt Romney was a career move, publicity stunt to garner the attention of conservative males, in particular, and they took the bait. On second thought, she may be smarter than we give her credit for as she went where the money is and is cashin’ in.

‘Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future,’ she tweeted on Sunday, posting a steamy photo of herself dressed in a sexy red top in front of an American flag.

Black conservatives are showcased by the conservative establishment to highlight the diversity, and that’s not a bad thing. Black conservatives who are willing to sell their souls for the fame and fortune; more power to ya. However, be wary of what happens if your work is too good.

But enough of the chivalry of running to a “conservative” woman’s defense. If a woman deserves her prominence, she can defend herself.

Even better, she won’t put herself in that uncomfortable position in the first place.
