These are supposed to be the best and brightest legislators in the nation. There are hundreds of video clips available online of informative and entertaining exchanges between politicians and those testifying; exchanges that are off the cuff conducted by those who have a grasp of the topic at hand.
On May 1, 2019, William Barr volunteered to answer questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee and one would think the senators would know enough about the Mueller Report and its conclusions to ask intelligent questions of the Attorney General.
One would think questions would not have to be read; questions possibly written by unelected staffers who just might be smarter than those sent to represent the American people.
I’ve been saying it at all of our Senate Democratic retreats that we need to speak to the heart not in a manipulative way, not in a way that brings forth everybody’s fears and resentments but truly to speak to the hearts so that people know that we’re actually on their side. We have a really hard time doing that and one of the reasons it was told to me at one of our retreats was that we Democrats know so much, that is true. And we have kind of have to tell everyone how smart we are….
— Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI)
One would think….
When AG Barr asked Senator Hirono for clarification on where she came up with one of the editorializations, the best she could come up with (seeing how it was apparently not written down for her) is “I think you know what I’m talking about, please.”
As usual, liberal Democrats believe they are intellectually superior… that is, until they have to prove it.
