Even When They Don’t Have to, the Media’s First Instinct is to Lie

On a recent segment on MSNBC, host Craig Melvin asked a rather simple question to NBC News national security and intelligence correspondent covering Ken Dilanian.

Ken was clearly flummoxed by something and everyone watching saw it that way. However upon later returning to Dilanian, Melvin apologized for “technical difficulties”.

Mr. Melvin had better be careful because crew members are very meticulous and proud of the work they’re paid very well to do. Blaming a faux pas by the talent on the crew is not cool and embarrassing hot mic leaks happen for precisely this reason.

But what’s again more telling is the initial instinct of today’s journalist class to lie. Despite what’s plain as day to the world, they’ll tell us something completely different happened.

See a pattern…?
