Let’s be clear from the onset; Turning Point USA is not the only political nonprofit that’s heavily dependent on the donor dollars of the rich, but when your message is “capitalism” and you haven’t really created anything original or new and can’t really show any kind of profit outside of an improvement to the lifestyles of the principle faces, that’s not really capitalism as defined.
Or has that, too, been rebranded and redefined?
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who still appears to be living at home and living large when he travels to events to spread the anti-socialism, pro-capitalism message to the easily-impressionable youth, appears to have effectively tapped into Republican moneybags.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, TPUSA is not required to disclose its donors. But based on public tax records and some reporting by other outlets, IBT has identified the sources of over $900,000 in funding for TPUSA. Republican mega-donor families, GOP politicians and other wealthy individuals have provided large amounts of money.
In addition to traditional funders, TPUSA has a host of event sponsors, many of which are key organizations in the right-wing advocacy movement such as the conservative public policy think tank Heritage Foundation, the nonprofit Christian law firm Alliance Defending Freedom and the libertarian think tank the Reason Foundation. Kirk said event sponsors typically top out at $5,000-$10,000.

In what’s sadly become an ongoing theme, Republicans appear to be easy pickin’s for those with hands out because a minimal, if any, vetting is done of the shiny recipient because why would anyone donate big bucks and have anything to do with an organization inhabited by those who don’t share our values?
The group’s former national field director, Crystal Clanton, who once texted a fellow Turning Point employee: “I HATE BLACK PEOPLE. Like fuck them all . . . I hate blacks. End of story.“
Or the woman who effectively replaced her, 22-year-old Shialee Grooman, who tweeted in 2013….
Troy Meeker is currently the “Leadership Operations Director” at Turning Point USA.
Turning Point USA’s Midwest regional manager, Timon Prax, was “forced” to leave after he went too far.
Again, Republicans have accepted Candace Owens as this fresh new face that speaks for black Americans; a concept insulting to many who’ve rejected liberal so-called leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton but are expected to embrace Owens because she believes she’s saying something fresh and new.
Bullshit.
Owens was hired by Kirk as a strategic pushback against the very visual impression that he’s surrounded by immature, millennial racists and it could be argued that had it not been for liberals doing the proper vetting of his personnel, Clanton, Grooman and Prax would still be employed at Turning Point USA and Owens would not have been needed to be willfully used for a price.
Turning Point USA would not have been able to reach the uninformed, deep pockets of the conservative movement; deep pockets that continue to fund their existence to this day.
Nothing about Turning Point USA is capitalistic. They do appear to have perfected income redistribution from the rich to the wannabe and clueless conservatives who continue to be an easy mark.
